Suresh Kumar Garlapati was born in India. After school education he moved to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad and completed B. Tech in Metallurgical Engineering in 2009. He pursued Masters in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). During Masters he was awarded DAAD fellowship to purse M. Tech thesis in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. In KIT, he worked on synthesis and characterisation of p-type oxides for printed electronics. He pursued his PhD, in Technical University of Darmstadt, on low temperature processing of printed oxide transistors and graduated in 2016. Currently he is in the University of Manchester as a postdoctoral researcher and working on organic field-effect transistors for sensing applications. His research interests include printed electronics, oxide and organic semiconductors, gas and volatile organic compound sensors.
