Helen Wright

Helen was born in Swansea, South Wales in 1985. From 2003-2007 she attended The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, where she read Chemistry, gaining an MChem. Whilst in Oxford she carried out a Part II research project titled ‘Deep Blue Phosphorescent Dendrimers for OLEDs’ under the supervision of Prof. Paul L. Burn. She moved to The University of Manchester in 2007, where she is currently working towards a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Michael L. Turner. The title of this project is ‘Fused Ring Conjugated Polymers and Small Molecules for Organic-Semiconductors’. Fused ring systems allow for closer p-p stacking of adjacent molecules, thereby improving charge transport in devices, and have, in this project, been synthesised by various metal-catalysed cross-coupling reactions.
