Dr Nicolas Cocherel

Nicolas Cocherel was born in 1980 in Angers, France. He started to study chemistry at the University of Angers and obtained his M.Sc. in 2006 working in Dr. Jean Roncali’s SCL group, under the supervision of Prof. Philippe Leriche, on the synthesis of pi-conjugated systems derived from triphenylamine incorporable in photovoltaic cells.

In 2006, Nicolas decided to pursue his scientific studies at the University of Rennes 1 and joined Dr. Marc Fourmigue’s MaCSE group for a Ph.D in synthetic organic chemistry. Under the supervision of Dr. Joëlle Rault-Berthelot and Dr. Cyril Poriel, he studied the synthesis, the properties and the applications in organic electronics of new ladder-type oligophenylenes.

In January 2010, Nicolas obtained his Ph.D. degree and joined Prof. Michael Turner’s group as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester. He is currently working on the synthesis of ladder and semi-ladder polymers based on indolocarbazole.
