I was born and brought up in Calcutta, India and perused my Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemistry, with specialization in Physical Chemistry. Then I took up my PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. K. Das of Jadavpur University in the field of electrochemistry. My main focus was to study the electrocatalytic behaviour of carbohydrates and alcohols on various transition metal oxides with a view of applying them in fuel cells or for sensor development. In March 2009 I moved to South Korea to work as a post doctoral fellow in the Biosensor lab of Prof. Y.-B. Shim of Pusan National University. There, I mainly worked on the design and development of an electrochemical sensor for Glycated haemoglobin using amino phenyl boronic acid.

I came to Manchester in June 2010 and joined the group of Dr. Erwin Reisner of Manchester University. Here I tried to prepare some azide modified surfaces and functionalised them (using click reaction) with inorganic complexes which can catalyse hydrogen production.

In October 2010, I joined Prof. Michael Turner’s group at the University of Manchester. Here I aim to work on biosensors based on Organic field effect transistors.
